Show Us Your Glory, Lord… March 18-20, 2024

Dear Praying Friends~ It seems like the season of Lent just started and now here we are at the week before Holy Week. Whether you have prayed with us daily or just occasionally, I hope this season has been meaningful for you. I do plan to continue the Rhythms of Grace (ROG) posts after Lent until the Lord changes His directions to me. I have grown very much week by week, trusting the Lord in the writing of this blog. Let’s keep on praying! I invite you to join me as we continue this month’s theme: “SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD as WE MAKE DISCIPLES!” We will continue with this theme until we come to the end of our Lent prayer calendar.

Lent 2024 began on Ash Wednesday, February 14. During this season, these posts will be focused on praying to make disciples in every area of our cities’ cultures. We have the entire prayer guide that is downloadable here.

Mark Your Calendar…Thursday, May 2, 2024 is the National Day of Prayer. The National Day of Prayer Task Force is the Christian expression of the day. Many prayer gatherings will be planned. To find a prayer event near you, check out our event finder here.

Let’s pray on, Saints! ~Gina

Monday, March 18, 2024:Read Genesis 24:1: Praying for THE ELDERLY.

Prayer Pointer: No matter the age, Scripture tells us prayer and a relationship with God are important. The longer we live, the more years of wisdom and experiences we have to share. When saying a prayer for the elderly, we share God’s love. ~Crosswalk (see below for more)

Prayer “Fuel”: This prayer is based on a post from Crosswalk:

Father, cover the elderly people in the church with Your love and protection. May we always remember to include elderly people in conversations and activities. They have wisdom and experiences to share. I pray for the elderly who are homebound and unable to attend church in person. May they be able to worship through technology. Abba Father, please be with the elderly who are sick. They need Your healing and comfort. Remind them of Your love. Lord, help everyone to remember that older people were young, too. Each person is created by God. (add your own prayers) SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD as WE MAKE DISCIPLES among THE ELDERLY.

Tuesday, March 19, 2024: Read Isaiah 14:3: Praying for ADDICTS.

Prayer Pointer: Addictions are often fueled by stress since they have a numbing effect on our emotions. Numbing ourselves is a popular way to manage stress in our society. ~Crosswalk.com

Prayer “Fuel”: This is a prayer we all could probably pray over some area of our lives: O Lord, you are my king, I sing in your honor and proclaim your constant love towards us. Lord, I surrender every person who is struggling with addiction into your hands. Heal them Father and help them to walk in freedom. Set them free from the evil chains of addictions. Don’t abandon them in their distress Lord, be their hiding place. Remove the evil desire to use drugs (or…) from their minds and hearts. May they find fulfillment in you and not in drugs (or…). In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. (add your own prayers) SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD as WE MAKE DISCIPLES among the ADDICTS.

Think/Journal/Apply: Many in local detention centers are addicts. Consider prayer walking or driving there asking the Lord to set the captives free from addictions.

Wednesday, March 20, 2024 : Read Matthew 23:37,39: Praying for CHILDREN.

Prayer Pointer: When you are tempted to worry about the safety of your child, their friendships, their health, and their future, the best thing to do is pray! There is power in prayer to heal, protect, and comfort. Whether your child is a newborn, in grade school, or an adult – they never stop needing the prayers of their parents interceding on their behalf! ~Crosswalk.com

Prayer “Fuel”: Lord, I pray Your emotional, physical, and spiritual protection over my children. Keep evil far from them, and help them to trust You as their refuge and strength. I pray You will guard my children’s minds from harmful instruction, and grant them discernment to recognize truth. I pray You will make them strong and courageous in the presence of danger, recognizing that You have overcome and will set right all injustice and wrong one day. Help them to find rest in Your shadow, as they lives in the spiritual shelter You provide for them. Let our children know that the only safe place is in Jesus and that their home on earth is only temporary. In Jesus name, amen ~Rebecca Barlow Jordan (add your own prayers) SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD as WE MAKE DISCIPLES among CHILDREN.

Think/Journal/Apply: As you walk or drive and see children playing, on bikes, walking to school, take a moment to pray for them.
