Show Us Your Glory, Lord… June 27,2025…Keeping Close

Dear Praying Friends, I have been thinking a lot about Pentecost this week. A brief explanation of Pentecost from Christianity.com reads:  

Pentecost is a Jewish feast that has been celebrated since the Old Testament, being called the Feast of Harvest or the Feast of Weeks in Jewish tradition. It is mentioned in five places in the first five books — in Exodus 23, Exodus 24, Leviticus 16, Numbers 28, and Deuteronomy 16. ‘Pentecost‘, the Greek name of this event, is also used to refer to the events in Acts 2 when the Holy Spirit intervened following Jesus’ ascension to heaven.

I think I have been thinking so much about the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2, because the Church was born and the believers were welcomed into a whole new experience of boldness and power. Since this event, there have been other spiritual awakenings. The Baptist Paper tells us: “All Christians should take heart that spiritual awakening is not limited to a denomination, region of the country or even a region of the world. A move of God’s Spirit can happen anytime and anywhere.” Are we welcoming the possibility of another spiritual awakening in our Nation? Let’s keep praying and believing. O God of unity and truth,

We gather as Your faithful children, lifting our voices in unison, beseeching You for a mighty revival in Your church. Restore us, dear Lord, to the fervent love and devotion of our early days. Break down the walls of division that separate Your people. Unite us in Your purpose and empower us with Your Spirit. May Your church shine with the radiant light of Your truth and love, drawing all people to You. We humbly submit our church into Your loving care, trusting in Your faithfulness to revive and renew.
