Dear Praying Friends, This past week, I was able to receive instruction from an Episcopalian monk. The “monastic” lifestyle is very different from the lives that most of us live. Those living this lifestyle spend much time in quiet and in prayer. I was fascinated by it all and he assured us that we all can practice a bit more quiet, even in our busy lives. I am trying to take more time to be silent and present with our Lord. It takes practice, but I feel it will help me draw closer to Him. Let’s keep seeking Him for more quiet in our noisy world.

This month, let’s continue to pray:

Monday, March 10, 2025: BE STILL! Jeremiah 29:11

Prayer Pointer: Our prayers are never lost or meaningless.

Prayer “Fuel”: Lord, I am grateful that You know the plans that You have for my life. This week, when anxiety tries to come in, please remind me that You do. Help my brothers and sisters everywhere to take a deep breath when anxiety descends on their hearts. Help us all to wait and to know that You hear our every prayer and that each prayer matters. Think/Journal/Apply: Do I doubt that God hears me when I pray? Talk to Him about this.

As You Have Time: Take some time today to “practice” silence. Yes, I think we’d all agree that silence is hard and it takes practice. Try setting your timer for 5 minutes or more as you grow in the ability to be still! We need to learn to practice silence. You may want to start by simply saying, “Speak, Lord, your servant is listening.” Ok…ready, set, go!

Tuesday, March 11, 2025: BE STILL! Psalm 23:1-6

Prayer Pointer: If we are praying, something is happening, whether we can see it or not.

Prayer “Fuel”: Shepherd of my soul, Lord, as I continue to be still and wait upon You, please help me to enter the peace that goes beyond my understanding. Help me to find my rest in Your gracious and loving arms. Help me to pause in the green pastures, help me to drink from the still waters that You provide. Think/Journal/Apply: What might God’s “green pasture” look like today? Can I pause and rest there awhile?

As You Have Time: Pray for the Nation of Zimbabwe. Praise God for the university students going on outreaches in rural areas. Pray for travel mercies and for the students to grasp the importance of their work. ~Every Home for Christ

Wednesday, March 12, 2025: BE STILL! Isaiah 30:15

Prayer Pointer: All that needs to happen in our lives and the lives of our children cannot happen without the presence and power of God. Prayer invites and ignites both.

Prayer “Fuel”: Lord, I am sorry for the places where I have not been willing to be still and quiet. I am sorry for the places where I have relied on my own strength and not on Your strength. Continue praying and asking God to open your heart with a greater understanding of what it means to be still before Him. Take some time this weekend to rest and reflect. Review the scriptures of the week and think about how far the Lord has brought you. Join others in worship if you are able and share your findings with others. Talk about Jesus!
