Show Us Your Glory, Lord… May 27-31, 2024

Dear Praying Friends, It is hard to believe that May is almost over. It has been good for me to read through Acts again this month and I hope you have found it life-giving. Another scripture that spoke to me this week was Psalm 143:10: Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God; may Your good Spirit lead me on level ground. I had some new revelation! I see that God wants to teach me. He is the One who trains me in His will and His ways, AND it looks like it is OK to ask for level ground. Your word promises that your grace is sufficient and that your power is perfected in our weakness. I pray that you will bring tangible comfort and grant them the grace to endure their suffering for you. May they be strengthened in ways that surpass all human understanding to stand strong for you. Help them to have courage, recognizing that you yourself, are their light and salvation, they don’t have to feel afraid, because You are the stronghold of their lives. Lord, I pray that though they are experiencing horror, they will not lose hope but that they will have the grace to endure. Dear Praying Friends, This week, I found myself in an unexpected storm. As I was leaving the market, it was sprinkling, but by the time I got to my car, it was pouring! It made me think of the spiritual “storms” that sometimes arise in our lives, seemingly out of nowhere. The Lord is reminding me that He is the Lord even of the storm. Remember that in scripture, He spoke peace to the storm. The new Church in the Book of Acts faced stormy days, too. God kept them strong so that even today we hold to God’s Word. Dear Praying Friends, I’m looking back today at some journaling I did in 2017 & 2018. One of the questions I posed then, I pose again today: “How do I consider trials pure joy?” As I look at this old journal, I see that I had many trials back then, just as I do today. But I don’t recall what they all were because obviously the Lord brought answers. The Church in the Book of Acts had many trials, too. The Lord reminded me that instead of “rehearsing” what is happening in the darkness, I need to speak the “victory” that comes from His light. Dear Praying Friends, As I write this, I am still fervently praying for the upcoming National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 2, 2024. This is the 73rd annual National Day of Prayer. Other Nations will be praying with us and for us. The battles have been pretty intense as we have prepared and I ask for your continuing prayers for the day and beyond. I think we would all agree that America needs our prayers. This month, I will add to our prayer prompt the last component from the dream that I had in December 2023: FELLOWSHIP. I feel that we should pray through the Book of Acts during May to contemplate what His early Church looked like. And as the whole world pauses to pray for the USA, help us also to pause to pray for this world that You love. Almighty Father, I thank You for granting me the strength to remain faithful to You always. Today I rejoice, for my heart is filled with joy – pure joy for simply being Your follower. Though sometimes I may waver, I know that at the end of every day, You are always waiting for me to come home to You. I shall continue to praise Your name until the end of my days. Everything I lift up to you. Amen.

I started this day meditating on 1 Corinthians 15:58: ^”Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” I feel this is where we should “camp” in prayer this week asking the Lord to show us how to remain steadfast and immovable amid a world that appears to be violently shaking right now. Dear Praying Friends! Do you ever feel “stuck”? Wondering which way to turn in times of trial? This past week, I read Psalm 69 and found that David felt the same way. I love the fact that in the midst of his struggles, David still recalls that God is good. In Psalm 69:16 he says, “Answer me, Lord,for your faithful love is good. In keeping with your abundant compassion, turn to me.” In the midst of our difficulties, let’s focus this week on the goodness of God.
