Rhythms of Grace

Dear Praying Friends~ I walk with many prayer warriors everywhere and I am amazed as I watch the Lord moving throughout the world! Keep praying Kingdom prayers! As we continue in Lent 2024, finishing out February 2024, we will pray this week for University Students, Disabled People, Mothers, and Government Leaders. I encourage you to join me as we continue to pray “SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD as WE MAKE DISCIPLES!” 

Lent 2024 began on Ash Wednesday, February 14. During this season, these posts will be focused on praying to make disciples in every area of our cities’ cultures. We have the entire prayer guide that is downloadable here.

Monday, February 26, 2024: Read Psalm 71:17 Praying for UNIVERSITY STUDENTS.

Prayer Pointer: Thursday, February 29, 2024 is the Collegiate Day of Prayer. “In the year 1823, the last Thursday of February each year was agreed upon as the day for special supplication that God would pour from on high His Spirit upon our Colleges and Seminaries. And what have been some of the results? In the years 1824 and 1825, revivals were experienced in 5 different colleges; in 1826, in 6 colleges … In one of the colleges it is stated that a revival started on the very day of the concert of prayer. In 1835, not less than 18 revivals were reported by different colleges.” ~Henry C. Fish in Handbook of Revivals

Prayer “Fuel”: Lord, I pray for the UNIVERSITY STUDENTS in our city and in the world. I pray that they will follow Christ. Touch them, reach them! Show them that You are the One Who can satisfy their deep desires for significance and belonging. Help them to be strong and courageous in settings that can often be hostile or cynical toward matters of faith. I pray that the truth will be proclaimed in the colleges and universities across our land. Help students to make wise decisions and shape their careers and ambitions according to Your divine destiny for them. Provide strong leadership among the Christian groups on campuses and advance the movements of prayer and mission mobilization. Break through the spiritual forces that hold our campuses in bondage. Prayer Pointer:… there is always a place for fasting and fervent prayer when we face stubborn challenges that seem to refuse to leave us, as well as the problems that seem to mock us. In James 5:16, the author says, “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (NKJV). Prayer “Fuel”: Lord, I pray for the DISABLED PEOPLE in our city and in our world. Help many disabled people follow Jesus. Please surround them with loving friends and family. Provide support for them as they navigate difficulties in this world. Bless the ministries that share Your gospel with the disabled. I pray for physical stamina and healing and for endurance for them through chronic pain. Bring the finances needed to provide for their therapy and special care. Give them Your wisdom in all their deliberations. I pray that they will speak and carry out dealings with truth. Help them not to hinder the service and worship of Jesus Christ. Dear Praying Friends~As we continue in Lent 2024, we will pray this week for Troubled Youth, Sick People, Educators, Health Care Workers, Prisoners, and Prisoners’ Families. I hope you will stay in an attitude of prayer all week. Alvin Vandergriend says: Praying continually does not mean we are to do nothing but pray. It means that we live all our hours and days so conscious of God that we are actually, in one level or another, keeping company with him always. (Love to Pray) As we keep company with God, let’s ask him how to intercede for others. Dear Praying Friends~ I’m writing this on a snowy afternoon in Laramie, WY. For the last stretch of days, the weather here has been pleasant and even rather “spring” like. But in a moment, things changed and now we have lots of snow on the ground. Here in Wyoming, we have to be ready for sudden changes in weather. All of this made me think about being “ready” in the ever-changing spiritual climate that we live in. Am I ready to go, pray, bless, minister when the Lord calls on me? Are you ready? As we focus on discipleship and prepare to enter Lent, let’s focus this week on being “ready.” I encourage you to join me as we continue to pray “SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD as WE MAKE DISCIPLES!”

Dear Praying Friends~As we welcome February 2024, I encourage you to continue in a prayerful life. I think that Alvin Vandergriend says it well in Love to Pray: “prayer is the conversational part of the most important love relationship in our lives, our love relationship with the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.” In January, I mentioned a very clear dream that I had. The dream inspired our theme of worship all last month. This month, the dream inspires the theme of making disciples. We will enter the season of Lent on Ash Wednesday, February 14, and the posts will become more specific as we pray to make disciples in our cities. So this month, I encourage you to join me as we pray “SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD as WE MAKE DISCIPLES!” Let’s pray on, Saints! ~Gina

Thursday, February 1, 2024: Matthew 28:18-20

Prayer Pointer: This scripture is known as the Great Commission. This commission is given in light of the authority of Jesus. This indicates that this is an authoritative command, not a suggestion. It is the same idea as if an officer reminded a private of his rank before he gave the order. Dear Praying Friends~It is hard to believe that we are almost at the end of the first month of 2024. As we continue forward, I know that the times we live in are difficult. The “wars and rumors of wars” continue to press in on our hearts. I think we’d all agree that the world is a very difficult place right now. In these chaotic times, I am grateful that God does not change. Dear praying friends~ Do you find yourself in a “desert” place? Many that I have prayed with this last week are in a season of suffering. I felt that God was speaking to me as I read Numbers 9 this week. I was struck when the Lord told Moses to have the people celebrate in the desert. Then I heard a sermon about “ultimate joy” that reminded me that my joy is not based on my circumstances. Whether I am in a “desert” or on a “mountain top”, Jesus is Lord and that is the ultimate joy. This week, I will focus on walking in “desert” places with the hope of the Lord. Let’s keep praying: SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD as WE WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH! Pray on, Saints! Blessings~Gina
