Show Us Your Glory, Lord… March 4-10 , 2024

Dear Praying Friends~ As I look back at this week, a conversation that I had with a Pastor friend, stays with me. He told me that when he prays, it helps him to “recalibrate.” I looked up the definition of this word and it really speaks to me: “to reexamine (one’s thinking, a plan, a system of values, etc.) and correct it in accord with a new understanding or purpose.” Isn’t that what prayer does?!? When I wake up discouraged. I go to my “prayer chair” and I ask for God’s perspective. I don’t know about you, but I want to do a lot more recalibrating this coming week! I invite you to join me as we continue with this month’s theme: “SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD as WE MAKE DISCIPLES!” We will continue with this theme until we come to the end of our Lent prayer calendar.

Lent 2024 began on Ash Wednesday, February 14. During this season, these posts will be focused on praying to make disciples in every area of our cities’ cultures. We have the entire prayer guide that is downloadable here.

Mark Your Calendar…Thursday, May 2, 2024 is the National Day of Prayer. The National Day of Prayer Task Force is the Christian expression of the day. Many prayer gatherings will be planned. To find a prayer event near you, check out our event finder here.

Show Us Your Glory, Lord… March 1-3 , 2024

Dear Praying Friends~ I am writing this on “Leap Day” 2024. Will this be a year when the Lord will ask us to take a “leap” of faith? I will certainly be praying about this and asking Him what He wants me to do. As we “march” into March, let’s keep praying and let’s keep praising! He is Lord and He is coming again someday. Until that day, I want to stand ready to share my faith with those who don’t know Him. God bless you as we continue in prayer. This month’s theme will continue as “SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD as WE MAKE DISCIPLES!” as we continue to pray through our Lent calendar. I hope you will join me and others in prayer in March.

Pray that more of Hollywood’s celebrities will be worthy of our respect and admiration. And as you watch your favorite sport, ask the Lord to strengthen and embolden any Christians on the team or coaching staff. Wednesday, February 7, 2024: Read Mark 10:45

Prayer Pointer: Those that God used in the past were just ordinary people with an extraordinary Master. They were not all champions of great faith, but little people who saw their own need, and put their small faith in a great God. ~Winkie Pratney

Prayer “Fuel”: Lord, please help me and my Christian family around the world to be “ready” when You call upon us. Please help us to be directed by Your Holy Spirit as we seek to serve others. Let our love for You be evident as we minister in Your love to others. Jesus, You came as the perfect servant. Teach us to serve like You do. As you have time: The Challenge to Serve

Thursday, February 8, 2024: Read 1 Peter 4:10

Prayer Pointer:  Prayer is of transcendent importance. Prayer is the mightiest agent to advance God’s work. Praying hearts and hands only can do God’s work. Prayer succeeds when all else fails.  ~E.M. Bounds

As you have time: Serving Like Jesus

Friday, February 9, 2024: Read Galatians 6:10

Prayer Pointer:  Have you been holding back from a risky, costly course to which you know in your heart God has called you? Hold back no longer. Your God is faithful to you, and adequate for you. Show Us Your Glory, Lord… February 1-4, 2024

Dear Praying Friends~As we welcome February 2024, I encourage you to continue in a prayerful life. I think that Alvin Vandergriend says it well in Love to Pray: “prayer is the conversational part of the most important love relationship in our lives, our love relationship with the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.” In January, I mentioned a very clear dream that I had. The dream inspired our theme of worship all last month. This month, the dream inspires the theme of making disciples. We will enter the season of Lent on Ash Wednesday, February 14, and the posts will become more specific as we pray to make disciples in our cities. So this month, I encourage you to join me as we pray “SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD as WE MAKE DISCIPLES!” Let’s pray on, Saints! ~Gina

Thursday, February 1, 2024: Matthew 28:18-20

Prayer Pointer: This scripture is known as the Great Commission. This commission is given in light of the authority of Jesus. This indicates that this is an authoritative command, not a suggestion. It is the same idea as if an officer reminded a private of his rank before he gave the order. Because He has this authority, He can send whomever He wills to do whatever He pleases. ~Enduring Word Bible Commentary

Prayer “Fuel”: Lord, when You gave us this commission, You gave it to us with Your authority. Remind me and my brothers and sisters worldwide that we walk in Your power and not our own. Show us how to be the fulfillment of Your Great Commission. (add your own prayers) SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD as WE MAKE DISCIPLES!

Think/Journal/Apply: How seriously do I consider Jesus’ Great Commission?

As You Have Time: Reaching Others for Jesus

Prayer Pointer: “The one indispensable requirement for producing godly, mature Christians is godly, mature Christians.”― Kevin DeYoung

Show Us Your Glory, Lord… January 29-31, 2024

Dear Praying Friends~It is hard to believe that we are almost at the end of the first month of 2024. As we continue forward, I know that the times we live in are difficult. The “wars and rumors of wars” continue to press in on our hearts. I think we’d all agree that the world is a very difficult place right now. In these chaotic times, I am grateful that God does not change. (Hebrews 13:8, Malachi 3:6) Let’s finish out this month praying: SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD…as WE WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH! This post will be shorter as we finish out January! Let’s pray on, Saints!~Gina

Monday, January 29, 2024: Read Psalm 31:1-8

Prayer Pointer: Psalm 31 is a psalm of David and begins in a similar way to many of his other psalms – with a declaration of trust in God in a time of trouble. We do not know the precise nature or time of the trouble, other than it severely afflicted David and made him despair of life. Nevertheless, David proclaimed his trust in the LORD. ~Enduring Word Bible Commentary

Prayer “Fuel”: Lord, today I come to give You the glory due to Your Name. I worship You as the Great God, exalted over all! Lord, in this world filled with trouble I am trusting You as my refuge and strong fortress. When the “bad news” of this world bombards my mind and heart, help me to focus on the “Good News” that You are Lord. (add your own prayers) SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD…as WE WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH!

Tuesday, January 30, 2024: Read Psalm 31:9-16

Prayer Pointer: …the righteousness of God is that righteousness whereby, through grace and sheer mercy, he justifies us by faith. ~Martin Luther

Prayer “Fuel”: Lord, today I come to give You the glory due to Your Name. I worship You as the Great God, exalted over all! Thank You for Your mercy and unfailing love. In all my places of distress today, I put my trust in You. Let Your Face shine upon me, Your servant. (Psalm 31:16) (add your own prayers) SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD…as WE WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH!

Think/Journal/Apply: Is there a place of trouble where I need to turn to the Lord today?

As You Have Time: Worship Song for Today-God Will Make a Way

Wednesday, January 31, 2024: Read Psalm 31:17-24

Prayer Pointer: However great David’s troubles were, his trust in God was even greater. He took careful inventory of his crisis but would not dwell on it. He understood that Yahweh was his God (You are my God) and therefore greater than all his trouble. ~Enduring Word Bible Commentary

Prayer “Fuel”: Lord, today I come to give You the glory due to Your Name. I worship You as the Great God, exalted over all! Thank You for the good things You give me because I take refuge in You. (v. 19) Thank you for showing me the wonders of Your love and for hearing my cries for help. (vv. 21,22) (add your own prayers) SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD…as WE WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH!

Think/Journal/Apply: Is there a place of trouble where I need to turn to the Lord today?

Show Us Your Glory, Lord… January 22-28, 2024

Dear Praying Friends, As we continue in this 2024 prayer journey, I believe it is important to remember that prayer is about more than getting results. Yes, God tells us to ask Him for answers, but if that is all we ever do, I think we’d agree that our prayer life is very shallow. Let’s continue praying, SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD as WE WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH! Let’s ask Him to help us to know Him more! Jesus came and died for us so that we can have a relationship with God. What a beautiful gift! Pray on, Saints! Blessings~Gina

Monday, January 22, 2024: Read 1 Chronicles 16:27-29

Prayer Pointer: As followers of Christ, we aren’t meant to skim the Bible out of obligation. Our souls need nourishing truth daily, like food for the spirit. When we meditate on the word, understanding dawns bright and clear. Our minds align more with the Mind behind the text. ~Our Daily Verse

Prayer “Fuel”: Lord, today I come to give You the glory due Your Name. My words seem so inadequate as I come to worship You. When my words fail, hear the intentions of my heart. I love You, Lord…(add your own praise) SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD as WE WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH!

Tuesday, January 23, 2024: Read 1 Chronicles 29:11-12

Prayer Pointer: God places great importance on worship, praise and thanksgiving. He does so not because He is an egotist with selfish desires, but because He has our best interests at heart. Praise and thanksgiving help us rise above self-centeredness to Christ-centeredness. They focus our hearts and minds on the Lord and make us more like Him. We cheat ourselves when we neglect them, for they are a tonic that promotes joy and spiritual vigor. ~Praise: A Door to God’s Presence

Prayer “Fuel”: Lord, today I come to give You the glory due Your Name. I worship You as the Great God, exalted over all! As I focus on You, help me to take my eyes off myself and my circumstances. My words seem so inadequate as I come to worship You. When my words fail, hear the intentions of my heart. I love You, Lord…(add your own praises) SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD as WE WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH!

Saturday & Sunday, January 27 & 28, 2024: Review and REST

As we reach another weekend, take some time to review where we have been this week. Was there an attribute of God that especially spoke to You? Consider worshipping Him there again. Take some time to rest in Him and if you are able, gather with a community of Christians in prayer and worship.

Let’s keep praying: SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD as WE WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH!

Next Bible/prayer prompts will be posted on Monday, January 29 at midnight.

Show Us Your Glory, Lord… January 15-21,2024

Dear praying friends~ Do you find yourself in a “desert” place? Many that I have prayed with this last week are in a season of suffering. I felt that God was speaking to me as I read Numbers 9 this week. I was struck when the Lord told Moses to have the people celebrate in the desert. Then I heard a sermon about “ultimate joy” that reminded me that my joy is not based on my circumstances. Whether I am in a “desert” or on a “mountain top”, Jesus is Lord and that is the ultimate joy. This week, I will focus on walking in “desert” places with the hope of the Lord. Let’s keep praying: SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD as WE WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH! Pray on, Saints! Blessings~Gina

As You Have Time:A beautiful worship song: Desert Places

Tuesday, January 16, 2024: Read Isaiah 48:21

Prayer Pointer: Today, most of us don’t live in literal deserts, but we often go through desert-like places. Sometimes we go as an act of obedience. Other times we find ourselves there through no conscious choice or action. When someone abandons us, or disease invades our bodies, we end up in desert-like circumstances where resources are scarce and life is hard to sustain. ~Julie Ackerman in Desert Places

Prayer “Fuel”: Lord, as we continue in this new year, help each of us to truly understand what it means to worship You in Spirit and in Truth. Thank You that You are with us on the mountaintops and in the deserts of this life. Thank You for providing living water for us even in the barren places. Thursday, January 18, 2024: Read Proverbs 18:21

Prayer Pointer: David tells us that God’s Word is a lamp for our feet and a light for our path. Nowhere and at no time is that more important than the rocky, rugged, tangled terrain of the wilderness. We need illumination to keep us from tumbling down a ravine; we need a bright light to ward off wild animals that would attack us in the dark; we need a map to keep us from wandering in circles like the Israelites after leaving Egypt for the Promised Land. By speaking God’s words in the wilderness we find deliverance.”  ~Darlene Zschech in Worship Changes Everything

Prayer “Fuel”: Lord, as we continue in this new year, help each of us to truly understand what it means to worship You in Spirit and in Truth. Thank You that You are with us on the mountaintops and in the deserts of this life. Help our words to glorify You even in these difficult places. (Proverbs 18:21) Holy Spirit, when we are in hard places, remind us that our ultimate joy is in the death and resurrection of Jesus. Help us to keep our focus on Him. Thank You for providing Your guiding light even in the darkest places. (Exodus 13:21-22) Help us to look for Your guidance in all our circumstances.
