Rhythms of Grace

Dear Praying Friends~ As I look back at this week, a conversation that I had with a Pastor friend, stays with me. He told me that when he prays, it helps him to “recalibrate.” I looked up the definition of this word and it really speaks to me: “to reexamine (one’s thinking, a plan, a system of values, etc.) and correct it in accord with a new understanding or purpose.” Isn’t that what prayer does?!? When I wake up discouraged. I go to my “prayer chair” and I ask for God’s perspective. I don’t know about you, but I want to do a lot more recalibrating this coming week! I invite you to join me as we continue with this month’s theme: “SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD as WE MAKE DISCIPLES!” We will continue with this theme until we come to the end of our Lent prayer calendar.

Please help us to reach those who do not know You. May this be a year of great spiritual awakening in Corporate America. Prayer “Fuel”: Lord, I pray for the MEN in our city and in our world. I pray that they will seek You and honor You in faithfulness, wisdom, and truth. Help many MEN to follow You, Lord. Let their identity be centered in Christ-like servant-leadership. Let the vision of their lives be to serve and advance Your purposes. Think/Journal/Apply: Ask God to bring to mind a man that you know so that you can pray for them today. As you see men in various places, continue in prayer.

Wednesday, March 6, 2024 : Read Isaiah 51:4: Praying for NATIVE PEOPLES.

Prayer Pointer: Many Native people have difficulty getting past a highly contextualized Western gospel and church model. They believe that becoming a Christian requires forsaking their identity as Native people. Such feelings are rooted in centuries of flawed missionary efforts and tensions from historical events.

Prayer “Fuel”: Lord, I pray for the NATIVE PEOPLES in our city and in our world. Help us to honor them for who they are and all that You intend them to be. Please heal the harm that has come from broken treaties and mistreatment. I pray that they will be treated with dignity and justice. I pray that Your Church would flourish among them and that Your praises would resound in native languages.(add your own prayers) SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD as WE MAKE DISCIPLES among NATIVE PEOPLES.

Think/Journal/Apply: As you drive or walk in your city today, consider the Native peoples who lived in the area before it became your city. Write a prayer for their descendants.

Thursday, March 7, 2024 : Read Psalm 106:3: Praying for LAW ENFORCEMENT AND JUDGES

Prayer Pointer: There is a police officer’s creed that speaks of their duty to serve people and to keep lives and property safe. They protect the innocent and fight deception. They seek to bring peace in violent situations. Policemen risk their own lives for the safety of others. Police work is a very noble profession. After all, greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends (John 15:13).

Prayer “Fuel”: Lord, I pray for the LAW ENFORCEMENT AND JUDGES in our city and in our world. Help many to follow Christ. Please give them godly wisdom and Christ-like integrity. Please give emotional/physical protection and courage and blessing to them and their families. I pray that they will be Your agents to resist evil and to bring an environment in which Heaven’s justice can increase. (add your own prayers) SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD as WE MAKE DISCIPLES among LAW ENFORCEMENT AND JUDGES.

Think/Journal/Apply: Consider writing a “prayer card” to your local police/sheriff’s department or to a judge letting them know that you prayed for them.

Friday, March 8, 2024: Read Psalm 144:12,15: Praying for YOUTH

Prayer Pointer: Praying for our youth is more important than ever. The Lord continues to do amazing things in teenagers’ lives. (see more in As You Have Time below)

Prayer “Fuel”: Lord, I pray for the YOUTH in our city and in our world. Help many to follow Christ. I pray that You will put older mentors in their lives. Give them authentic friendships with their peers who are following Christ. I pray for open trust and communication with their parents and for Your purposes and intentions for their lives to come forth in fullest measure. Think/Journal/Apply: As you walk and drive through your city, pray with your eyes open for people in their teens. Envision them following Christ Five, ten or more years from now.

Prayer Pointer: A father is a pillar of strength, wisdom, and love in the family unit. His guidance, support, and unwavering presence shape the lives of his children and leave an indelible mark on their hearts. Fathers play a unique and irreplaceable role in the journey of life, offering not only protection but also valuable life lessons and cherished memories. (see more in As You Have Time below)

Prayer “Fuel”: Lord, I pray for the FATHERS in our city and in our world. Help many to follow Christ. Help them to serve and care for their families. Dear Praying Friends~ I am writing this on “Leap Day” 2024. Will this be a year when the Lord will ask us to take a “leap” of faith? I will certainly be praying about this and asking Him what He wants me to do. As we “march” into March, let’s keep praying and let’s keep praising! He is Lord and He is coming again someday. Until that day, I want to stand ready to share my faith with those who don’t know Him. God bless you as we continue in prayer. Friday, March 1, 2024: Read Zechariah 8:16 Praying for NEWS AND MEDIA.

Prayer Pointer: We encourage you to make our nation’s journalists a subject of prayer. Ask the Lord to provide the television, radio and print mediums with staff members and executives who are committed to accuracy and integrity. We must also remember to intercede on behalf of the actors, musicians and athletes our young people seek to emulate. Pray that more of Hollywood’s celebrities will be worthy of our respect and admiration. And as you watch your favorite sport, ask the Lord to strengthen and embolden any Christians on the team or coaching staff. Nothing is too difficult for God ­ and though the industry often seems unprincipled, we know the Lord is able to use the media to accomplish His purposes. ~The National Day of Prayer Task Force

Prayer “Fuel”: Lord, I pray for the NEWS AND MEDIA in our city and in the world. I pray that many journalists and celebrities will follow Christ. Touch them, reach them! Show them that You are the One Who can satisfy their deep desires for significance and belonging. Help them to be strong and courageous in settings that can often be hostile or cynical toward matters of faith. I pray that the truth will be proclaimed in the news media across our land. Break through the spiritual forces that hold our media in bondage. Strengthen the “voice” of Christian media. Prayer “Fuel”: Lord, I pray for the ORPHANS in our city and in our world. Help many orphans follow Jesus. Please surround them with loving support systems to help them as they navigate difficulties in this world. Bless the ministries that share Your gospel with the orphans. Provide good, Christian foster care for children who cannot be with their families and those who have no families. Bring the finances needed to provide care. Monday, February 26, 2024: Read Psalm 71:17 Praying for UNIVERSITY STUDENTS.

Prayer Pointer: Thursday, February 29, 2024 is the Collegiate Day of Prayer. “In the year 1823, the last Thursday of February each year was agreed upon as the day for special supplication that God would pour from on high His Spirit upon our Colleges and Seminaries. And what have been some of the results? In the years 1824 and 1825, revivals were experienced in 5 different colleges; in 1826, in 6 colleges … In one of the colleges it is stated that a revival started on the very day of the concert of prayer. In 1835, not less than 18 revivals were reported by different colleges.” ~Henry C. Fish in Handbook of Revivals

I pray that the truth will be proclaimed in the colleges and universities across our land. Help students to make wise decisions and shape their careers and ambitions according to Your divine destiny for them. Provide strong leadership among the Christian groups on campuses and advance the movements of prayer and mission mobilization. Break through the spiritual forces that hold our campuses in bondage. In James 5:16, the author says, “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (NKJV). I hope you will stay in an attitude of prayer all week. Alvin Vandergriend says: Praying continually does not mean we are to do nothing but pray. It means that we live all our hours and days so conscious of God that we are actually, in one level or another, keeping company with him always. (Love to Pray) As we keep company with God, let’s ask him how to intercede for others. Dear Praying Friends~ I’m writing this on a snowy afternoon in Laramie, WY. For the last stretch of days, the weather here has been pleasant and even rather “spring” like. But in a moment, things changed and now we have lots of snow on the ground. Here in Wyoming, we have to be ready for sudden changes in weather. All of this made me think about being “ready” in the ever-changing spiritual climate that we live in. Am I ready to go, pray, bless, minister when the Lord calls on me? Are you ready? As we focus on discipleship and prepare to enter Lent, let’s focus this week on being “ready.” I encourage you to join me as we continue to pray “SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD as WE MAKE DISCIPLES!”

Dear praying friends~ Do you find yourself in a “desert” place? Many that I have prayed with this last week are in a season of suffering. I felt that God was speaking to me as I read Numbers 9 this week. I was struck when the Lord told Moses to have the people celebrate in the desert. Then I heard a sermon about “ultimate joy” that reminded me that my joy is not based on my circumstances. Whether I am in a “desert” or on a “mountain top”, Jesus is Lord and that is the ultimate joy. This week, I will focus on walking in “desert” places with the hope of the Lord. Let’s keep praying: SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD as WE WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH! Pray on, Saints! Blessings~Gina

Prayer “Fuel”: Lord, as we continue in this new year, help each of us to truly understand what it means to worship You in Spirit and in Truth. Thank You that You are with us on the mountaintops and in the deserts of this life. Thank You for providing Your guiding light even in the darkest places. (Exodus 13:21-22) Help us to look for Your guidance in all our circumstances. Holy Spirit, when we are in hard places, remind us that our ultimate joy is in the death and resurrection of Jesus. Help us to keep our focus on Him. (add your own prayers) SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD as WE WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH!

As we start another weekend, I hope you will take some time to rest and to reflect on where we have been this week. Only God truly understands the “whys” of the wilderness. But we can trust Him in the midst of the wilderness. I encourage you to keep on praising and to keep on praying! He hears us and He cares as we pray: SHOW US YOUR GLORY, LORD as WE WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH!
